BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Vilma E. Oritz is presently working as an Associate Anesthetist in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care & Pain Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital, United States, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. She almost has 19 years of experience in the field of Anesthesia. She also worked as Director of Bariatric Anesthesia at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She is currently the Scientific Program Director for the Second Latin American Symposium on Obstetric Anesthesia in the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP). Her clinical interests involve patient safety, bariatric anesthesia and obstetric anesthesia. She participated as an expert in the Betsey Lehman Weight Loss Task Force on Anesthesia, Perioperative Care and Pain Management. In 2013 she was honored as a nominee for the Harold Amos Faculty Diversity Award by Harvard Medical School for her Contribution to making HMS/HSDM a diverse and inclusive community.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Her research interest includes Bariatric anesthesia, Obstetric anesthesia, Anesthesia for general surgery.
