BIOGRAPHY:
In 1983,KRZYSZTOF KOSTRO get a doctor of Veterinary Science degree (PhD) in the Department of Epizootiology and Clinic of Infectious Diseases, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Agriculture in Lublin, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.He is a professor at University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Poland. At present,He involved in teaching veterinary students of infectious diseases of animals, veterinary epidemiology, zoonoses, diseases of fur bearing animals. He have wide experience in infectious diseases of animals, clinical and experimental immunology and immunopathology. Also he has engaged in research projects in the field of immunology and infectious diseases. He is a member of scientific organizations such as Polish Society of Veterinary Sciences, Polish Society of Veterinarians for Small Animal, Polish Society of Experimental and Clinical Immunology - section of veterinary Immunology and Bulletin of Veterinary Institute in Pulawy.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Aetiology of ringworm in animals, biological properties and antigenic structure of dermatophytes isolated from cattle, horses, foxes and rabbits, mechanisms of immune responses and immunoprophylactic and immunotherapy of ringworm.Characteristic of serum proteins of foxes and minks and their differentiation in relation to age, state of health and their application for immunogenetic and evaluation of health. Isolation, properties and application of the acute phase proteins in diagnostic and monitoring infectious diseases in animals. The role and character cellular and humoral immune reactions in infectious diseases, mainly lymphocytes and granulocytes in diseases of foxes, cattle and pigs. Modulation and potentialization of unspecific immunity, mainly using pharmacological immunomodulators, and their influence on healthy state and reproduction, especially of pigs and breeding foxes. Preparation of new strategy of immunoprophylactic and immunodiagnostic for infectious diseases of animals. Elaboration of new strategies in immunodiagnostic and immunoprophylaxis of infectious diseases applying flow cytometry
