BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Weibin Shi is an Associate Professor of Radiology and Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics at the University of Virginia, a renowned public university in the United States. He is also a faculty member of the Cardiovascular Research Center, Center for Public Health Genomics, and MD/PhD training program at the university. He received his PhD in pathology from McGill University in Canada. His postdoctoral fellowship was carried out in the Department of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles. He joined the University of Virginia School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor in 2001, and he was promoted to Associate Professor in 2005. He has published over 60 peer reviewed articles. He has served as a grant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and American Heart Association-Mid-Atlantic Affiliate. He has been a reviewer for numerous prestigious journals.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr. Weibin Shi research is mainly focused on Atherosclerosis, lipid metabolism, aortic aneurysm, stroke, obesity and type 2 diabetes, molecular imaging.
