BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Ayman Mahdy, MD, PhD a specialist in urinary incontinence, voiding dysfunction and women's urological issues, with the University of Cincinnati, Department of Surgery, Division of Urology as an Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery, Director of Voiding Dysfunction & Female Urology. Dr. Mahdy received his formal residency training in Urology in Egypt in 2003. He graduated from and held a staff position at Assiut University Hospital in the same year. He then moved to the United States in 2005. He obtained a basic research fellowship in prostate disease at the Medical University of South Carolina (2005-2007) and then moved to Florida where he was trained at Cleveland Clinic Florida and obtained state-of-the-art training in Voiding Dysfunction, Female Urology, Urodynamics and Urologic Reconstruction. Dr. Mahdy was also an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas from October 2009 to March 2011.
Dr. Mahdy has published over 20 peer reviewed articles, 8 book chapters and over 40 meeting abstracts and videos. He has presented over 25 state-of-the-art lectures to different societies and at different scientific meetings. Dr. Mahdy has received several awards during his career including Cleveland Clinic Florida Most Valuable Fellow (2009), Cincinnati “Top Doctors” Cincinnati Magazine (2013) (2014), “Educator of the Year” University of Cincinnati, Division of Urology Residency Program (2013-2014).
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr. Mahdy has developed extensive experience in the new technology including Green Light Laser Prostatectomy, Interstim and the Artificial Urinary Sphincter for male incontinence. He also treats stone conditions using Holmium Laser and Extra-corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL).
