BIOGRAPHY:
Dr Vana Spoulou is Associate Professor at the Athens University Medical School and Infectious Diseases Consultant at “Agia Sophia” Children’s Hospital in Athens, Greece. She is actively involved, in applied and research vaccinology since 1992. She has obtained a combined clinical and laboratory training in immunobiology in UK which she applied for the investigation of potential vaccine efficacy in relation to immune responses in immunocompromised children. Following the completion of her studies in UK, she returned to Greece, where she established and runs the Immunobiology research lab at "Agia Sophia" Children's Hospital, in Athens, where she is actively involved in bacterial carbohydrate vaccine research by developing more sophisticated methods for analysing vaccine responses in humans and in particular focuses on ways for analysing immunological memory.
